Secrets To A Healthy And Plentiful Garden

Posted on May 12, 2015 at 8:38 AM Comments comments (0)
Gardening means more than decorating a space outdoors. It is also more than just something people with green thumbs can do. It can give a gardener a feeling of peace. When one is good at gardening, the rewards are outstanding.

If you have any mildew on the plants, do not go out and buy anything. Combine a bit of liquid soap and some baking soda with water. Spray this mixture on your plants weekly until the mildew is gone. Baking soda is a good way to get rid of mildew on your plants gently.

When winter arrives, transfer some plants into the house to save them. It's a good idea to save any expensive plants or those that will thrive in indoor heat. Carefully dig around the root ball and replant in an appropriate pot.

All plants need an adequate supply of carbon dioxide in order to thrive. The majority of plants grow much better when CO2 levels are at their highest. Greenhouses typically provide plants with high levels of CO2. If you have a greenhouse, keep CO2 levels high.

Cooling weather of early fall signals the opportune time to plant seasonal edibles. If you'd like to change things up a bit this season, put away your standard clay pots and plant your lettuce and kale inside of a pumpkin instead! Scoop the insides out of the pumpkin, and don't forget to spray the inside with Wilt-Pruf. This will prevent your pumpkin from rotting. Once you've done that, you can plant!

You can keep pests away from your garden by using other plants or natural materials. Slugs are repelled by bordering your vegetable garden with either onions or marigolds. Wood ash, when used like mulch, can keep away pests after it is spread around a tree base and shrub seedlings. By utilizing these methods, you will not have to apply chemical pesticides on your vegetation.

Use the knowledge you have gained here to resuscitate your garden today. You will be glad you did when your garden is full of thriving and blooming plants. If you allow it, gardening will change your life. So get started!
