How To Grow A Garden In Window Boxes

Many people believe that fruits and vegetables that are grown organically are far superior to regular produce. Why not save your money and grown your own veggies? Read the following article to find out more about organic gardening.

Brighten up your flower beds with annuals and biennials. You can use biennial and annual flowers to brighten the bed, and let you change how it looks. In an area that is sunny, they make good plants to place in the gaps found between shrubs and perennials. Some flowers you can use are rudbekias, petunias, cosmos, marigolds, or sunflowers.

Use climbers to cover walls and fences. You can hide an unsightly wall or fence, in as little as one growing season, with the right selection of climbing plant. They can cover an arbor, or grow through trees and shrubs. Some varieties of these plants will have to be tethered to some sort of support, but other varieties will be able to attach to the medium they are climbing. Trusted variations of climbers are honeysuckle, jasmine, clematis, wisteria and climbing roses.

Save some plants in the winter by bringing them indoors. Maybe you'd like to save the most expensive plants you have or the most resistant. Be careful not to damage the root system as you dig up the plant, and place it in a pot.

When you decide to add vegetables into your garden space, be aware that they must be placed where they will receive direct sunlight for a minimum of six hours daily. Most vegetables need at least that much sun exposure to grow properly. The same can be said for some flowers.

You can use boiling water to get rid of weeds naturally. One of the safest "herbicides" you can find is a pot of boiling water. Carefully pour boiling water right on the weeds, but be careful not to pour it on the plants you want. What this does it essentially kill the weeds by damaging their roots. The result is that those weeds are unlikely to regrow.

There is no need to buy produce of lesser quality. Use the advice in this article and you can start growing your own organic produce.
