Many consider gardening to be a relaxing and stress relieving hobby. Just a few of the common questions gardeners have are what type of soil to use, what kind of equipment is needed, and when is the best time for planting seeds. You will be provided tips and tricks to help you learn how to garden.
Shoveling clay soil is tiresome since clay is hard, and it can also stick to your shovel for twice the difficulty. To make digging clay soil easier, try applying a light coating of wax, either car wax or floor wax, and then buff off and commence digging. This causes the clay to slide rather than stick, and prevents rust as a side effect.
Plant cool-weather edibles in the fall. If you'd like to change things up a bit this season, put away your standard clay pots and plant your lettuce and kale inside of a pumpkin instead! Cut an opening in the pumpkin and scoop the insides out. Then spray the edges and empty inside of the pumpkin with Wilt-Pruf so the pumpkin doesn't rot. Once you've done this, you can plant.
Grow wheat or cat grass around the plants your cat likes nibbling. Try putting mothballs or citrus on your soil to wards pets away.
If your soil is highly alkaline, try mixing used coffee grounds into the soil. This is a simple way to replenish your soil with acid. When you can eliminate excess alkaline from the soil, it makes what you are growing much healthier. This means your veggies will taste better, and your flowers will be more vibrant than ever.
There are many rewards to gardening, but in order to do it correctly, there is a lot that you must know. With correct planning and by following these tips, you'll have a beautiful garden before you know it. A beautiful garden requires the right tools, soil, water and sunlight.
